Site Security

Safeguarding your information
Here at BDC we understand the importance of security ; especially when it comes to taking payments via credit and debit cards. Firstly, we accept internet orders only from Web browsers that permit communication through Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, for example, 3.0 version or higher of Explorer and versions 3.02 or higher of Netscape. This means you cannot inadvertently place an order through an unsecured connection.
A secured connection means that your information is encrypted during transmission to us, ensuring that your information remains secure at all times.
Secondly, we use a highly established and respected payment service provider, Sage Pay, to transmit card information to the card issuer (for payment authorisation). As a Payment Service Provider, thousands of businesses outsource their transaction security to Protx. It is their top priority to ensure that transaction data is kept secure at all times.
Transaction security
All transaction information passed between our site and the Sage Pay Systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to our servers from Protx are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. You can be completely secure in the knowledge that nothing passed to the Protx servers can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.
Encryption and Data Storage
Once on the Protx systems, all sensitive data is secured using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among others, the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract. The data held by Protx is extremely secure and Protx are regularly audited by the banks and banking authorities to ensure it remains so.
Verified by Visa & MasterCard SecureCode
At bdc.co.uk we take the security of your payment card very seriously. To support our current processes we have introduced Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode (through the Protx VSP system).

What are Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode?
Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode are new security programmes designed especially for customers who shop online to give added security. They allow you to create your own password, which only you will know, to use every time you shop online using these cards.
How do they work?
You need to register each card with a password. You only need to do this once, then whenever you use the card to shop online you will be asked to enter the password when you check out.
What do I need to do to register?
If your bank operates a secure authentication policy and you have not previously registered you may be requested to do so within the checkout process. To register your payment card you need to click on "Activate now" and complete the details requested. You will be asked to create a password. Using a secure link your bank will verify these details; the information is not kept or visible to www.bdc.co.uk. Whenever you shop online in the future using your registered card, you will be asked for your password. If your password matches, the purchase will be confirmed.
Still prefer not to order via the Internet?
